# Domain Transfer In API: Sample Flows

This article presents possible use cases and corresponding sample flows that you can support. It provides a useful starting point as you plan your implementation.

## Validate domain transferability before a transfer

Before a Wix user starts a domain transfer, you can check whether the domain is eligible to be transferred to Wix. This catches issues like unsupported TLDs, premium domains, and domains already registered with Wix before the Wix user pays for the transfer.

To validate domain transferability:

1. Call [Validate Domain Transferability](https://dev.wix.com/docs/api-reference/account-level/domains/domain-transfer-in/validate-domain-transferability.md) with the domain name.
1. Read `validationResult.violations` in the response. Each violation is a requirement the domain doesn't meet. For example, `DOMAIN_TRANSFER_IN_TLD_NOT_SUPPORTED` means the TLD can't be transferred to Wix, and `TRANSFER_IN_PREMIUM_DOMAIN_NOT_SUPPORTED` means the domain is a premium domain.
1. Show the Wix user what to fix for each violation. For guidance on resolving common issues, see [Troubleshooting a Failed Domain Transfer to Wix](https://support.wix.com/en/article/failed-domain-transfer-to-wix).
1. When `validationResult.violations` is empty, let the Wix user know the domain is ready to transfer. The Wix user completes the transfer in their Wix account. For details, see [Transferring a Domain Purchased Elsewhere to Wix](https://support.wix.com/en/article/transferring-a-domain-purchased-elsewhere-to-wix).

## Validate an authorization code before a transfer

The Wix user gets an authorization code from the domain's current registrar. You can confirm the code is valid before the Wix user starts the transfer, so they can request a new code right away if needed.

To validate an authorization code:

1. Call [Validate Authorization Code](https://dev.wix.com/docs/api-reference/account-level/domains/domain-transfer-in/validate-authorization-code.md) with the domain name and the authorization code.
1. Read `validationResult.violations` in the response. If it contains `DOMAIN_TRANSFER_IN_AUTHORIZATION_CODE_NOT_VALID`, ask the Wix user to check the code or request a new one from the current registrar.
1. When `validationResult.violations` is empty, let the Wix user know the code is valid and they can use it to complete the transfer in their Wix account.

## Check multiple domains before a migration

A Wix user moving several domains to Wix, such as an agency consolidating its clients' domains, can check all of them before transferring any. This shows which domains are ready to transfer and which need to be fixed first.

To check multiple domains:

1. Collect the domain names the Wix user wants to transfer.
1. Call [Validate Domain Transferability](https://dev.wix.com/docs/api-reference/account-level/domains/domain-transfer-in/validate-domain-transferability.md) once for each domain. The method validates one domain per call.
1. Sort the domains by result. Domains with an empty `validationResult.violations` list are ready to transfer. Domains with violations need to be fixed first.
1. Show the Wix user a report that lists the violations for each domain that isn't ready. For guidance on resolving common issues, see [Troubleshooting a Failed Domain Transfer to Wix](https://support.wix.com/en/article/failed-domain-transfer-to-wix).
1. After the Wix user resolves the violations, call Validate Domain Transferability again for those domains to confirm they're ready.
