The Sites APIs provide access to information and management capabilities for Wix sites in an account. Wix users, resellers, agencies, and 3rd-party developers can use these APIs to create new sites and headless projects, retrieve site details, organize sites into folders, and perform actions such as publishing.
With the Sites APIs you can:
- Create new sites and headless projects with the Projects API, including standard Wix sites, Headless backends, branded mobile apps, and Wix Vibe sites.
- Retrieve public details about Wix sites with the Sites API, including their name, URL, status, owner, and more.
- Perform site-related actions with the Site Actions API, such as publishing updates made in the Wix Editor.
- Organize sites into folders with the Site Folders API for better account management.
- Project: A Wix account entity that represents a site, mobile app, or backend-only setup. It’s the container for your Wix business features, data, and settings, and may or may not include a Wix‑managed frontend.
- Site: A website in a Wix account. Access to sites depends on the account owner's permissions.
- Folder: A grouping of sites for organizational purposes. Each site belongs to only 1 folder.
- Account: A Wix account that contains sites, folders, premium plans, and more. An account may have 1 or multiple Wix users.
- Site actions: Operations performed on Wix sites, such as publishing updates made in the Wix Editor. Site actions apply to Wix sites, not to Headless backends or apps.
