# About the Provider State API

The Provider State API lets a marketplace provider read and manage their own standing in the Wix Marketplace. A provider's state captures whether they're published in the marketplace and whether they're currently available to receive new leads.

Each provider account has exactly one provider state, created automatically during marketplace registration. Because the state belongs to the calling account, the read and management methods don't take an ID — the state is resolved from the caller's identity, and `id` on the returned object equals the provider's account ID.

With the Provider State API, you can:

- Retrieve the current provider's state, including their marketplace status and availability.
- Pause or resume receiving new leads, for example while the provider is on vacation.

## Status

A provider's `status` reflects their standing in the marketplace, and Wix drives its changes based on the provider's application, activity, and conduct.

- `PENDING`, `APPROVED`, and `DENIED` cover the provider's application to join the marketplace.
- `PUBLISHED` means the provider is live and eligible to receive new leads.
- `SUSPENDED`, `REMOVED`, `BANNED`, and `PENDING_REAPPLICATION` cover a provider that's been taken out of the marketplace. When a provider is suspended, `suspensionLiftDate` holds when the suspension is lifted.

The `description` field carries an additional detail about the status, such as a warning that the provider is at risk of suspension or removal for repeatedly letting leads expire or being unavailable for a prolonged period.

Status changes are driven by Wix and communicated out of band (email or dashboard), not through this API. Availability is the one part of a provider's state they manage themselves.

## Availability

A provider's `availability` controls whether they receive new leads. Set it to `false` to pause new leads and `true` to resume.

Availability only takes effect while the provider is **published** in the marketplace. Setting availability on an unpublished provider fails with `NOT_PUBLISHED`, and setting it to the value it already has fails with `ALREADY_SET`. Resuming availability also clears any active prolonged-unavailability warning on the provider's status.

## Before you begin

It's important to note the following points before starting to code:

- A provider state is created during marketplace registration, so there's no method for creating one through this API.
- A provider can only read and manage their own state; the state is resolved from the caller's identity.
- Status changes driven by Wix, such as suspensions or review outcomes, are communicated out of band (email or dashboard), not through this API.

## Terminology

- **Provider**: a professional who offers services in the Wix Marketplace.
- **Provider state**: the record of a provider's standing in the marketplace, including their status and availability.
- **Availability**: whether the provider is currently accepting new leads.
- **Published**: the provider is live in the marketplace and eligible to be matched with leads.

## Related APIs

- **Partner Profiles** (`wix.partners.profile.v1`) — the provider's editable public directory profile (business info, services, portfolio). Matching criteria are managed there and in other marketplace services.
