  BI events related to charges have been replaced by the [External Billing Events API](fallback::https://dev.wix.com/docs/rest/app-management/app-billing/external-billing-events/introduction). Use this new API to report your app's external billing events to Wix.

This API allows 3rd party apps connected to Wix, to send BI events to the Wix system. 
It includes several out-of-the-box events, like when the app dashboard is loaded, or when a primary action is taken (the most valuable action in an app product flow). 
If the list of built-in event does not suit your needs, you can also send a custom event.

This article outlines key flows for sending BI events and explains their implications.

## Alert users when app setup is incomplete

To alert users that your app requires additional configuration, such as setting preferences or creating an account, Wix can display a "Setup incomplete" status badge next to your app in the site dashboard.

To enable the badge, your app has to send the `APP_FINISHED_CONFIGURATION` event at least once. Wix will then recognize your app as requiring additional setup and show the badge for future installations. Once you determine that the [app instance](fallback::https://dev.wix.com/docs/build-apps/develop-your-app/access/app-instances/about-app-instances) has completed the setup of the app, send the event for that instance to remove the badge and mark it as configuration finished.

The process looks like this:

1. A user installs your app. At this point:
    * If you’ve sent the `APP_FINISHED_CONFIGURATION` event at least once, the user sees the "Status incomplete" badge next to your app in the site dashboard.
    * If you haven’t sent the event, no setup status is shown to the user.
1. Upon opening the app, your app prompts the user to complete the setup.
1. After setup is complete, your app sends the `APP_FINISHED_CONFIGURATION` event, including an [OAuth](fallback::https://dev.wix.com/docs/build-apps/develop-your-app/access/authentication/about-oauth) access token for the relevant app instance in the `Authorization` header.
1. Wix removes the "Setup incomplete" status badge next to your app in the site dashboard.

**Warning**: After sending the `APP_FINISHED_CONFIGURATION` event, your app will always show a "Setup incomplete" status for new installations. This behavior can't be disabled.

A site owner or contributor loads your app's dashboard.

The site owner completes all required configurations for your app in your app's dashboard.

The site owner upgrades your app's paid plan. An upgrade means that they have finished the checkout flow on the app's side but not necessarily on Wix's side.

A site owner, contributor, or visitor triggers your app's primary action. For example, a site visitor writes a product review using your product review app.

Any event that's not listed here. Make sure to also send `customEventName`.

You charge money from the site owner. For example, when the site owner purchases or renews a subscription for your app. Make sure to also send `eventData` and a key of `sum`.

Trigger this event when you send money back to a site owner (for example, refunds or chargebacks). Make sure to also send the charge amount inside `eventData`. For example, `{"eventData": {"sum": "5.99"}}`.

__Deprecation Notice:__ This enum value will be removed on March 30, 2023. Use `"APP_SETUP_FINISHED"` instead.

Your app’s internal code implementation is changed and might affect user flows or cause a regression.

The site owner completes your app's required business setup.

customEventName

Supported values include: `"cycle_name"`, `"currency"`, `"sum"`, `"reason"`, `"app_plan_id"`.
You may also submit data with keys that aren't listed here.

Additional data about your app's event.

+ `"cycle_name"`: Supported values: `"monthly"`, `"yearly"`, `"2 years"`, `"one time"`.
+ `"currency"`: 3-letter currency code in [ISO-4217 alphabetic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217#Active_codes) format.
+ `"sum"`: Amount of money. Required for `{"eventName": "CHARGE"}` and `{"eventName": "FUNDS_RETURNED"}`.
+ `"reason"`: Information about why the event was triggered in your app.
+ `"app_plan_id"`: ID of the your app's plan as displayed in your app's dashboard. Note that it's the same value as `vendorProductId` in the [Paid Plan Purchased webhook](https://dev.wix.com/docs/rest/app-management/app-instance/paid-plan-purchased).
