# About the Dispute History Records API

The Dispute History Records API provides a comprehensive audit trail for payment disputes, automatically tracking every change in dispute status, stage, and key properties. 
This read-only system ensures complete transparency by maintaining immutable records of dispute lifecycle events.

With this API, you can retrieve snapshots of a dispute at every point in its lifecycle.

## Working with dispute history records
Every time you make a change to a [dispute](https://dev.wix.com/docs/api-reference/business-management/payments/disputes/disputes/introduction.md), Wix creates a new dispute history record. You can use dispute history records for compliance reporting, performance analysis, and complete visibility into dispute resolution processes.
