# About Dashboard Menu Plugins

A [dashboard menu plugin](https://dev.wix.com/docs/overview/extensions-framework/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-menu-plugins.md) adds an item to a menu on a [dashboard page built by Wix](https://dev.wix.com/docs/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-pages-built-by-wix/about-dashboard-pages-built-by-wix.md), such as the **More Actions** menu on a CRM contact's page. When a Wix user clicks the item, it navigates to a dashboard page or opens a dashboard modal. This reference is the contract for a menu plugin you add as an extension: the generated file and the configuration object.

A menu plugin has no code of its own. Any code runs in the page or modal it opens.

The file and configuration object are the same whether you add the menu plugin in a Studio Two site project or in a Wix CLI app.
