# About Dashboard Page Slots

A slot is a placeholder on a [dashboard page built by Wix](https://dev.wix.com/docs/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-pages-built-by-wix/about-dashboard-pages-built-by-wix.md), such as the **More Actions** menu on the Wix CRM Contact page. A [dashboard plugin](https://dev.wix.com/docs/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-plugins/about-dashboard-plugins.md) or a [dashboard menu plugin](https://dev.wix.com/docs/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-menu-plugins/about-dashboard-menu-plugins.md) fills a slot.

## Slot types

The following table lists the slot types, the extension that fills each type, what the extension adds to the page, and where the slot's data goes:

## Slot IDs and slot data

Each slot has an ID. An extension names the slot it fills in the `extends` field of its configuration file.

In [Studio Two](https://dev.wix.com/docs/studio-two/.md), the [Wix Extension Builder](https://dev.wix.com/docs/studio-two/get-started/about-studio-two-extensions.md) can label a slot differently from its name in this section, but the slot's ID is the same.

For example, the Extension Builder labels the Wix Stores Products banner slot **Products Page**.

Each slot also defines the data it passes to the extension, such as the ID of the order or contact in view. Some slots pass no data.

The [Wix business solution](https://dev.wix.com/docs/overview/platform-overview/wix-business-solutions.md) that owns a page exports each slot's data type from the `dashboard` entry point of its package, usually as `plugins.<page>.<slot>Params`. In this path, `<page>` and `<slot>` are the package's names for the page and the slot, which can differ from the page's title in the dashboard and from the slot's name in this section.

For example, `@wix/crm` names the Wix CRM Contact page `ContactFullPage` and its **More Actions** menu slot `ContactMainMoreActionsMenu`, so that slot's data type is `plugins.ContactFullPage.ContactMainMoreActionsMenuParams`.

The code example in each slot's Params article declares the slot's data type with its full path.

Each page in the table has its own folder in this section. A page's folder can hold the following articles:

- **Introduction:** Where to find the page in the dashboard, and each slot on the page with its type, ID, and location.
- **Params articles:** One for each slot, named after the slot's data type, such as [Categories Banner Params](https://dev.wix.com/docs/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-pages-built-by-wix/page-slots/blog/categories-page/categories-banner-params.md). Each lists the fields that the slot passes, or states that the slot passes no data.

The Event Page folder is organized by tab. Its Introduction lists the tabs of the Wix Events Event page, and each tab has its own article with the tab's location in the dashboard and its slots.

The Published and Draft Pages folder holds only its Params article.

## Other dashboard pages with slots

Some other dashboard pages built by Wix also have slots, such as the Wix Bookings Booking List page and the Wix eCommerce Order page.

Some slot types in Build Apps differ from the types in the business solution's package. For example, Build Apps lists two slots on the Wix Bookings Booking List page as menu slots, but they're dashboard plugin slots.
