# About Dashboard Plugins

A [dashboard plugin](https://dev.wix.com/docs/overview/extensions-framework/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-plugins.md) adds your own UI to a [dashboard page built by Wix](https://dev.wix.com/docs/dashboard-extensions/dashboard-pages-built-by-wix/about-dashboard-pages-built-by-wix.md), such as a banner above the product table on the Wix Stores Products page. This reference is the contract for a plugin you add as an extension: the generated files, the configuration object, and the React component that renders on the page.

The file set and configuration object are the same whether you add the plugin in a Studio Two site project or in a Wix CLI app.
