An external URL extension adds a link on the Manage Apps page in the Wix dashboard. The link opens a destination you host outside Wix in a new browser tab. This reference is the contract for that extension in a Wix CLI app. It covers the generated file and the configuration object.
The extension has no component and doesn't run code in the dashboard. An app can register only 1 external URL extension.
A Studio Two site doesn't use this extension. To add an external URL extension to a site, create a private app that registers it and install that app on the site. Wix-managed and self-managed headless projects don't support it. Self-managed apps and Blocks apps set the URL in the App Dashboard instead of this file.
