App Skills extensions let you declare skills for Aria, the Wix AI assistant. A skill is a named set of reference documentation that guides Aria through a task. In CLI projects, a skill can also list App Tools that Aria may call.
This task walks you through creating the App Skills extension and declaring your skills.
Generate the extension file where you declare the skills your app offers to AI agents.
In the terminal:
Navigate to your project repo.
Run the generate command:
Select App Skills from the Backend menu and press Enter.
Enter a name for your extension when prompted.
The CLI generates the extension file and registers it in src/extensions.ts. For the generated folder structure and file contents, see App Skills Extension Files and Code.
Note: An app can have only 1 App Skills extension. To add more skills, add them to the skills array of the existing extension instead of generating a second extension.
Configure the skills Aria can discover and use. A skill contains the following components:
You can also add tags, example requests, and App Tools.
Open the generated <your-extension-name>.extension.ts file and replace the stub skill declaration with your own. For field guidance and examples, see App Skills Extension Files and Code.
Wix validates your declaration when you release your project. If the release is rejected, see common errors.
Changes to App Skills extensions don't take effect until you build and release your project:
Note: When you release a project, you create a new app version. You can view your app's versions in the app dashboard.
After a site installs your released version, your skills appear in that site's List App Skills response.
To remove an App Skills extension from your project:
src/extensions that contains your App Skills extension files..use() statement for the extension from your extensions.ts file.If you already have a released version of your app, build and release again after removing the files.
