# Introduction

The Widget API enables you to interact with a [site widget](https://dev.wix.com/docs/build-apps/develop-your-app/extensions/site-extensions/site-widgets/about-site-widget-extensions.md) that's currently selected in the editor. Use this API in the widget's [settings panel](https://dev.wix.com/docs/build-apps/develop-your-app/extensions/site-extensions/site-widgets/create-a-settings-panel-for-a-site-widget-or-plugin-wix-cli-and-self-hosting.md) code.
