# Context Provider Data Types

The `dataType` field declares the type of a context item, configuration input, function parameter, or function response. Use the same type in the manifest and provider component.

## Supported data types

Context provider manifests support the following values:

| `dataType` | Runtime value | Common uses |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `text` | string | Names, IDs, and labels. |
| `richText` | `RichText` | Formatted text. |
| `number` | number | Counts, quantities, and dimensions. |
| `booleanValue` | boolean | Toggles and flags. |
| `textEnum` | string | 1 value from a fixed set of options. |
| `arrayItems` | array | Lists of items. |
| `data` | object | Nested structured data. |
| `function` | function | Callable behavior exposed by the provider. |
| `image` | `Image` | Image data. |
| `video` | `Video` | Video data. |
| `vectorArt` | `VectorArt` | Icons and vector graphics. |
| `audio` | `Audio` | Audio data. |
| `link` | `Link` | Navigation links. |
| `a11y` | `A11y` | Accessibility attributes. |
| `localDate` | string | ISO local date. |
| `localTime` | string | ISO local time. |
| `localDateTime` | string | ISO local date and time. |
| `webUrl` | string | Validated web URL. |
| `email` | string | Validated email address. |
| `phone` | string | Validated phone number. |
| `hostname` | string | Validated hostname. |
| `guid` | string | Unique identifier. |
| `direction` | string | Text direction. |
| `menuItems` | array | Navigation menu items. |
| `filter` | object | WQL filter. |
| `sort` | array | WQL sort definition. |
| `regex` | string | Regular expression pattern. |

## Rich text

A `richText` value uses a `RichText` object:

```ts
import type { RichText } from '@wix/editor-react-types';

const description: RichText = {
  text: 'Meet the team',
  html: '<div>Meet the team</div>',
  linkList: [],
};
```

## Link configuration

For a `link` item, the optional `link` field restricts the link types that a Wix user can select in the editor.

| Field | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `linkTypes` | No | Allowed link types. Defaults to all supported types. |
| `appIds` | No | App IDs available for `dynamicPageLink` and `pageLink` values. |
| `hideInnerRoute` | No | Whether a dynamic page link can target only a top-level page. |

```ts
{
  dataType: 'link',
  displayName: 'Destination',
  link: {
    linkTypes: ['externalLink', 'pageLink'],
  },
}
```

The runtime value uses the `Link` type from `@wix/editor-react-types`.

## Runtime types

Most manifest data types have a matching TypeScript type in `@wix/editor-react-types`. Import the matching types instead of recreating their shapes:

```ts
import type {
  Direction,
  Image,
  Link,
  MenuItems,
  RichText,
} from '@wix/editor-react-types';
```

The `filter` and `sort` data types aren't defined in `@wix/editor-react-types`.
