View Logs in Studio Two

To see what your code does while it runs, view your site's logs on the Logs page. You can watch entries arrive live or review the last 24 hours, filter and search entries, open an entry's full details, and choose which columns to show.

The Logs page shows entries that your code writes with the monitoring client, plus uncaught backend errors. It doesn't show console output. To write entries, see Write Log Messages in Studio Two.

Open the Logs page

To open the Logs page, do one of the following:

  • In the site dashboard, select Developer Tools > Logs.
  • In the Studio Two editor, open the Code tab, click Developer Tools on the left edge, and select Logs. The page opens in a new browser tab.

The page opens in Live mode, with entries from the last hour, newest first.

Read the entry list

By default, each entry shows the following columns:

  • Severity: DEBUG, INFO, WARNING, or ERROR.
  • Time: When Wix received the entry, in your browser's time zone.
  • Message: The message your code wrote, or the error message.
  • Source file: The bundled file in your site's built code that wrote the entry, such as /index.mjs. It isn't the name of a file in your project.
  • Request ID: The request the entry belongs to. Entries written while handling the same request share an ID, so you can use it to match the entries from one request.

Choose a time range

To switch between watching live and reviewing a fixed period, select an option from the time range menu:

  • Live: Shows entries from the last hour, and adds new entries as they arrive. The page keeps the newest 100 entries.
  • Last 5 minutes, Last 15 minutes, Last hour, Last 6 hours, or Last 24 hours: Shows entries from that period. Older entries load as you scroll to the end of the list.

To keep entries longer than 24 hours, click Forward Logs. See Forward Logs to an OpenTelemetry Endpoint in Studio Two.

Filter and search entries

To narrow the list to the entries you need:

  • To show only some severity levels, open the severity menu and select one or more of Errors, Warnings, Info, and Debug.
  • To search, enter text in Search. The search returns entries whose message or source file contains your text. It doesn't search tags, contexts, or request IDs.

View an entry's details

To view everything recorded with an entry, including its tags and contexts:

  1. Click the entry. The Log details panel opens with the entry's severity, time, message, and the full entry as JSON.
  2. To copy the JSON, click Copy.

For a description of each field, see Log Entry Structure in Studio Two.

Pause, resume, and clear the live stream

In Live mode, you can stop new entries from moving the list while you read:

  • To hold new entries, click Pause. The button changes to Resume and shows how many entries are waiting. For example, Resume (6).
  • To add the held entries to the list, click Resume.
  • To empty the list, click Clear. Clearing doesn't delete any entries. To show them again, reload the page.

After 15 minutes without any activity on the page, the live stream pauses. To continue, click Resume.

Choose which columns to show

To change the columns:

  1. Click the column settings icon next to Search.
  2. In the Customize columns panel, select or clear the checkbox for each column. You can't clear the Message checkbox.
  3. To change the column order, drag a column up or down.
