wix release

Starts a process that guides you through releasing your project. The command first uploads your build output to Wix's servers as a preview, and then releases your project from that preview. For a headless project, releasing also publishes the project's site, and the CLI displays the site's URL once complete.

For apps specifically, the CLI displays links to the preview, creates a new version of your app from it, and registers extensions in your app's configuration. Once complete, it displays the version it created and links to the app dashboard.

Once the app version is released, you can submit it for review to publish it to the Wix App Market. If you choose not to list your app in the Wix App Market, you can distribute your app by sharing an install link or install it directly on a site within your account.

Notes:

  • This command uploads your project's build output, so you must run the build command after every change you want to release. In a project created with create init, the CLI has no build command, and this command uploads your build output from the directory set in site.outputDirectory.
  • A release can include at most 5,000 static files.

Tip: Releasing a headless site clears its entire cache, so visitors get the latest version. If you've released an update but still see outdated content, run wix release again to clear the cache.
