wix telemetry

Opts in or out of sending usage information and error reports (telemetry) to Wix.

Usage

States

The following states are available for the wix telemetry command:

• on: Opt in to sending usage information and error reports to Wix.
• off: Opt out of sending usage information and error reports to Wix.

The setting is saved in .wix/user.config.json in your home directory and applies to every Wix CLI project for your user account. Set it on each computer you work on. Telemetry is on by default.

What telemetry includes

• Usage information: The command you ran, including its arguments and flag values, and whether it succeeded. API keys and refresh tokens are removed from flag values before sending. When you're logged in, events include your Wix user ID. When the command is tied to a site or an app, events include that site ID or app ID. Events also include environment details such as the CLI version, the Node.js version, the operating system, and whether the command ran in CI.
• Error reports: When a command fails unexpectedly, the CLI sends an error report to the Wix error-monitoring service. A report includes the error and its stack trace, the command that failed, and your Wix user ID when you're logged in. If the failure came from a Wix API call, the report includes a truncated copy of the request and response. Reports also include environment details such as whether the command ran in CI.

wix telemetry off turns off both types. Turning off error reports requires Wix CLI 1.1.258 or later.

Turn off telemetry for a single run

Set the DO_NOT_TRACK environment variable to 1 to turn off all telemetry for that run, without changing your saved setting:

Use this variable in CI pipelines and in sandboxed environments, such as an AI coding agent's execution container, where outbound network requests are restricted or reviewed. With DO_NOT_TRACK=1, the CLI makes no telemetry or error-reporting requests, so you don't need to allow any telemetry destination. Only the exact value 1 turns telemetry off, per the DO_NOT_TRACK standard; any other value leaves your saved setting in effect. The variable can only turn telemetry off. It never re-enables telemetry you turned off with wix telemetry off.
