About Member Login

Member login lets users authenticate and access personalized content on your site, such as their profile, saved items, or order history.

Choose how members sign in

Wix Headless supports several ways for members to sign in. The right one depends on who builds the login page and, for a page you build, how members sign in.

On a custom page you build, you can offer several of these methods together, such as an email and password form alongside a Google button.

Wix builds the login page

With a Wix login page, Wix hosts the login UI and checks members' credentials. Members sign in with an email and password, plus any social providers you enable, such as Google or Facebook.

This is the only option when you build with Wix's Astro integration, which handles member login for you.

You build a custom page

When you build your own login page, you choose how members sign in. You can offer more than one of these methods on the same page, such as an email and password form alongside a Google button.

  • Email and password, verified by Wix: A custom login page lets you build and host the login UI while Wix checks the credentials. Members still use a Wix email and password.
  • A provider Wix supports: Add a provider button to your UI and let Wix run the provider's OAuth. No backend or API key needed.
    • Google or Facebook: Available on any site.
    • A custom SSO or OpenID Connect (OIDC) connection: Wix runs the sign-in using a connection you configure in the dashboard. Available only for Wix Studio enterprise and Wix Channels sites. To learn more, see Setting up SSO.
  • Bring your own provider: For a provider Wix doesn't support, such as GitHub, your backend runs the provider's OAuth and syncs the result with Wix. This requires a Wix API key, which must be used only in backend code and never exposed in the frontend.
