Wix Headless provides you with the flexibility to create an app or site on any platform and take advantage of Wix's business solutions via APIs. However, for some processes, such as authentication and checkout, you can save time and effort by using standard pages Wix implements for you. Wix incorporates these Wix-hosted pages into the flow of your external site.
Wix hosts your project's Wix-hosted pages as a separate website with a unique site domain. By default, that domain is a free Wix domain. This domain doesn't match your external frontend's domain.
In self-managed projects, such as vibe coding platforms, visitors leave your frontend domain when they're redirected to a Wix-hosted page for processes like checkout.
You can set up a custom domain, such as a subdomain of your external frontend, to create a seamless visitor experience. This requires a premium plan.
Note: You can't connect your external site's domain itself.
Consider connecting the subdomain of your external site's domain as a custom domain. For example, if your external site is at external-site.com, you can set portal.external-site.com as the domain that visitors see when they're redirected to a Wix-hosted page.
You can create and manage the subdomain in your external frontend's domain provider, outside of Wix. Domain registrars and DNS providers such as Cloudflare typically support this. Some external hosts, including many vibe coding platforms, don't provide this capability.
If you can't create a subdomain, keep the free Wix domain or connect a different custom domain through Wix using the steps below.
To connect a custom domain:
